Interview with Enrique Carrazoni, professor at LABA Valencia
Meet Enrique Carrazoni, Faculty member:
“First there was light.
Light creates feelings in us, awakens memories, shapes subjective images in front of our spiritual eye.
The first experiences in my childhood adventures (where everything is to be discovered), the course of the Sun throughout the day produced changes in the perception of reality: in the same geographical space, in the morning the wheat field served as a border for a local road, which later in the afternoon disappeared and magically became a “river”, and as I approached the river it disappeared leading to the initial road… I had intuitively “discovered” the subjective image…
Professional photographer since 1973, Carrazoni developed a lighting method based on sunlight and its infinite variations throughout the day; the teaching experience has consolidated this lighting system, giving rise to an enrichment of both the teacher and the students in their first photographic experience.
Portraits, still lifes, interior design, movement in action, freezing of fluids… will serve as practical examples in plateau, with light in the leading role, without forgetting the necessary business part: how to approach a commission, communication between client and photographer, preparing budgets … will be the contents of the subject that I will teach at LABA Valencia. All based on experiences acquired during my professional career.
Professor of lighting techniques at plateau. With more than 20 years of experience teaching masters in public and private universities, as well as workshops in photography schools. In 1978 he founded the production company FOTOEFECTO SL. In 2014, after 36 interrupted years, he closed the company to focus on his personal projects.
Richard Avedon, Irving Penn, Edward Weston, Three greats in the history of photography, whose influence has been decisive in my way of seeing.”
