ALBA BARNEDA
CANADA VIDEO PRODUCER

The art, design, and new media school LABA Valencia, in collaboration with the Espai Tactel Gallery and Valencia World Design Capital 2022, presents the Blablanights masterclass cycle.
Alba Barneda was in charge of the 3rd masterclass of the cycle, on April 27, 2021, with an exciting explanation about the methodology of the production company that has revolutionized videographic creation.
ALBA BARNEDA, Production Director at CANADA, explained the production processes of the famous video production company, analyzing some of its reference music videos, such as the one for artist Dua Lipa, while reviewing the company’s trajectory from its foundation in 2008 to today. Over more than a decade, this audiovisual production company, based in Barcelona, London, and more recently Los Angeles, has produced music videos for artists such as Dua Lipa, Rosalía, Tame Impala, and Beck, receiving international nominations and awards like the Grammys and MTV Video Music Awards.
ALBA BARNEDA studied Audiovisual Communication at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona (2004-2008). Shortly after graduating, she received a call from the directors of CANADA, who were looking for the ideal producer for an exciting project. Barneda accepted the challenge and began building, alongside the collective of directors, the international production company that CANADA is today.
She started by producing small pieces for museums and music videos for indie bands. The success of those projects pushed CANADA to produce both national and international large-scale projects, while also opening the company to represent more directors.
She has been leading CANADA’s Production Department for over 10 years, where she has participated in projects for artists such as Dua Lipa, Rosalía, and Tame Impala. With them, she has achieved nominations for the Grammys, Latin Grammys, or MTV Awards.

CANADA is a next-generation creative production company based in Barcelona, London, and Los Angeles. It is known not only for its work in advertising but also for its experience in the field of music videos, fashion films, photography, and more. They strive to ensure that their involvement in every project is synonymous with innovation and ambition, providing effective and comprehensive results.
CANADA’s work features well-structured sequences, each one filled with meaning. They have a roster of over 20 directors, all of whom help define the carefully crafted work of the production company and the CANADA universe with their unique worlds and languages.
CANADA’s videos elevate the imagination of the artists they work with, something more necessary than ever in the age of the internet. Even though a hit may be just another consumer product, by creating an audiovisual story at the level of CANADA’s work, you are giving the product an original artistic aura.
Their goal is to take the projects they work on to the highest levels of quality, applying a know-how and style that have shaped a very distinctive methodology. Over the past few years, CANADA has worked with the mission of building a solid international platform that incorporates the creative process at the heart of its work.
In addition to the partners Nicolás Méndez and Lope Serrano, who also direct under the name CANADA, the production company’s roster includes: Albert Moya, Andreas Nilsson, Bàrbara Farré, Chloé Wallace, Cyprien Clément-Delmas, Darío Peña, Femke Huurdeman, Gerson Aguerri, MANSON, Marc Oller, Marçal Forés, Miguel Campaña, Nur Casadevall, Pedro Martín-Calero, Pensacola, RÉALITÉ, ROGELIO, Roger Guàrdia, Virgili Jubero, and Yuichi Kodama.
