Cinema Jove Opens Its Youth Jury to Students: A Gateway to the World of Cinema

As part of its 40th edition, the International Film Festival Cinema Jove has launched a call for applications to join its Youth Jury—an initiative aimed at bringing the language of cinema closer to new generations and offering students the chance to actively participate in one of the most important audiovisual events in the country.

Xus Bernabéu, coordinator and assistant director of the festival, was in charge of presenting the initiative to students at LABA Valencia. During her recent visit to the center, she outlined the various ways to take part in this special edition.

In her talk, Bernabéu emphasized the educational value of being a member of the jury—an experience that not only allows young audiences to immerse themselves in a carefully curated selection of short films and features, but also helps them develop critical perspectives and build direct connections with professionals from the audiovisual industry.

Students interested in participating must submit their résumé along with a motivation letter. These documents will be evaluated by the festival’s organizing committee. Applications must be submitted by May 16th through the official website: www.cinemajove.com.

The festival will take place from June 19th to 28th in Valencia, bringing together emerging and established filmmakers. It will serve as a key meeting point for discovering new talent and fostering cultural dialogue through cinema.

At LABA Valencia, we encourage all students to take advantage of this unique opportunity for learning and visibility, in a setting where creativity and critical thinking come together on the big screen.
