«PERSPECTIVAS» Workshop by students of LABA Valencia. European project ACDC.

The ACDC European project is a small-scale partnership in the field of school education aiming at the co-creation and validation of teaching and learning materials for climate change education. The project is coordinated by LABA Valencia (Spain) with the collaboration of Casa da Imagem and Agrupamento de Escolas de Cristelo (Portugal).

The students of LABA Valencia have developed four workshops, among them «ECOWAVES», with very special creative results. All of them are adapted to secondary school students and other young students.

«PERSPECTIVES»

This workshop aims to give a twist to everyday activities, such as taking photos from your mobile phone, with an artistic sense and from an environmentally responsible perspective.

Every day, 95 million photos and videos are shared on Instagram. Teenagers are used to editing photos on their phones for this purpose, and we want them to use these skills for a different purpose, to create unique and provocative images to raise awareness about climate change.

The students explored an environment that is familiar to them, but try to look at it differently, see the details and imagine how they can capture images with their phones that recreate nature through textures and visual illusions.

The workshops have been successfully tested by more than 200 students and 20 teachers in Spain and Portugal. The LABA Valencia students involved in the ACDC project are from the BAH in Digital Media and BAH in Photography and video: Michelle Castillo, Joana Soler and Sergio Pons.
