The #MICME. Interactive Art Festival is an exhibition of the final projects of the Master’s students, tutored by the teaching staff. The festival highlights the role of multimedia and technologies as the core of the artistic experience: live audiovisuals, performances and interactive improvisations in real time.
Bina Sheraz translates her most intimate and personal world, the set of illustrations that populate her dreamlike and rebellious work, into albums of visuals and sounds that she offers to the public through experimentation with Improvisa (*), allowing users to create their own visual and sound compositions in a direct and simple way, using the computer keyboard as if it were a piano. Through various albums of illustrations and animations, users can travel through the worlds offered by Bina Sheraz and create their own videos, tours and non-linear narratives.
(*) The first version of IMPROVISA was a desktop software developed in 2008. The original software, created by Cristina Casanova, allowed users to generate and record audiovisual compositions using sound and visual samplers (predefined or uploaded by the users themselves) by playing the computer keyboard as if it were a piano. From 2008 to 2015 the IMPROVISA desktop software was exhibited and replicated with great success in the artistic, educational, museum and heritage fields. In 2022 C Casanova implemented a new, completely revamped version of Improvisa for mobile phones.

Bina Sheraz, student of the 2nd promotion of the MICME. International Master in Multimedia Creation for Live Shows at LABA Valencia, she graduated in July 2024.
«As an illustrator and visual artist, my creative journey is not a mere pursuit of aesthetic expression, but a deeply rooted commitment to exploring complex themes that resonate with the human experience.
My work is a visual storytelling medium, in which each brushstroke and stroke is infused with layers of meaning. This narrative landscape often reflects my inner emotions, which are sometimes stifled by the limitations of my Pakistani cultural upbringing. Through art, I find solace in rebellion, channelling my pent-up feelings into provocative visual narratives that challenge social norms and ignite introspection.
My quest for artistic excellence led me to pursue a master’s degree, where I embarked on a journey of discovery through subjects such as videomapping, interactivity, visual culture and light art. Coming from a third world country like Pakistan, where access to resources for artistic learning was limited, my academic stay at LABA Valencia University has been nothing short of transformative. As a creator, I am acutely aware of my potential to conceive unconventional ideas that challenge the boundaries of traditional art forms.
My passion lies in the seamless integration of disparate worlds: the knowledge gained from my master’s degree and the artistic repertoire I have cultivated over the years. I envision a convergence of these realms, where the intricate details of my illustrative style intertwine with the immersive and interactive elements of live media creation. This synthesis of artistic identities, both organic and inorganic, promises to offer audiences captivating experiences that will transcend boundaries, inviting them to immerse themselves in a world where art transcends the limits of tradition and convention.»
