Testimony of Valerio
Tarricone, LABA Firenze alumni

“I studied Graphic Design and Multimedia at LABA Firenze. I currently live in Vancouver, Canada. I am dedicated to the field of special effects for cinema, advertising and animation films. With the company Alcon Entertainment – Warner Bros we have won the Oscar for the best special effects for the film Blade Runner 2049.

Previously I was Senior Technical Director of FX at EDI Effetti Digitali Italiani collaborating on the television series Romulus for Sky and ITV. I also worked for Ingenuity Studios on music videos for artists like Shawn Mendes, Lady Gaga, and Ariana Grande. I collaborated on the television series The Good Lord Bird, and films such as Godzilla vs. Kong for Legendary Pictures – Warner Bros.

I recently served as FX Lead on Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween for Sony Pictures Animation and on Game of Thrones season 8 for HBO.

I highlight my work as FX TD working for Universal Pictures on films like The Mummy and Fast & Furious 8, Wonder Woman for DC Entertainment, Fantastic Animals and where to find them for Warner Bros and Star Trek Beyond for Paramount Pictures

I have very good memories of LABA. The magnificent teachers, especially Professor Piero Fragola with whom I did the thesis on the music video course: a 2D Flash animation. A mixed style between Steampunk and Art Nouveau.

I really highlight the equipment of the Academy, and the latest generation and very avant-garde material. Without forgetting the warm and friendly atmosphere among all the members of the community.

My advice to LABA Valencia students is that they must always believe in their dreams, focusing on their goals with great   determination and gradually create their own professional profile”
