"Pieces of Us", final degree project by Daira Jiménez in Photography and video

“…«Pieces of Us», it began with a quiet question: how much can an object say? Can it tell a story? And little by little, it grew into something much deeper: a story about absence, memory, and the invisible threads that connect us.

What started as an interest in still-life photography and product aesthetics evolved into a narrative about two women, two worlds, and a silent connection between them.

Over time, this project became more than an assignment or a simple photobook. It became a way of looking. A way of feeling. A way of listening to what often goes unnoticed. It became a space where I could explore everything that matters to me and blend film, still life, space photography, and art direction.”

Daira Jiménez LABA Valencia graduada en Fotografía y vídeo

Daira Jiménez, is a graduate of the second promotion BAH en Fotografía y vídeo at LABA Valencia

Daira stands out for her visual sensitivity, her constant curiosity, and her ability to transform ideas into images. She has a style that combines careful observation, attention to detail, and a way of seeing that finds meaning in the everyday. She builds narratives through objects and spaces, and her work reveals a strong understanding of light, composition, and visual language, showing a personal sensitivity that is becoming increasingly defined.

For her final degree project, Daira developed “Pieces of Us”, a photographic project created through still-life imagery that explores how personal belongings can silently narrate the lives, emotions, and transformations of their owners. It tells the intertwined stories of two protagonists: María, a writer, and Carla, a painter, who do not meet until the very end but are connected through a single object: a diary.
