We present the 26th session of the BLABLANIGHTS series with a masterclass by Jorge Carrión, one of the most influential voices in contemporary literary and cultural criticism in the Spanish-speaking world.
Jorge Carrión is a writer, cultural critic, and multidisciplinary cultural agent. His work explores the transformation of literature, publishing, and reading habits in the digital age. His research and creative practice focus on the book as a cultural object, the role of bookstores and libraries, and the impact of screens, platforms, and new media on contemporary culture.
Jorge Carrión holds a PhD in Humanities and is Director of the Master’s in Creative Writing at the Barcelona School of Management, Universitat Pompeu Fabra (BSM-UPF). He regularly contributes to leading media outlets such as La Vanguardia and has been published in The New York Times (Spanish edition).
His ideas are central to contemporary debates on editorial design, cultural journalism, publishing strategies, and the future of reading, making his work especially relevant for students and professionals in art, design, communication, and new media.
His essay Bookstores (published by Anagrama and Galaxia Gutenberg) has become a key reference within the publishing ecosystem, revaluing bookstores as spaces where cultural taste, design, and intellectual communities are formed. Always with a perspective that highlights the importance of materiality, visual identity, and editorial design in both print and digital publishing.
Throughout his career, Jorge Carrión has experimented with multiple narrative formats, including novels, essays, graphic novels, podcasts, and exhibitions. He is the creator of audio projects such as Solaris, Sound Essays, and has worked at the intersection of literature, technology, and artificial intelligence, including experimental books created with AI systems.
His work offers an in-depth analysis of visual culture, media ecosystems, and screen-based narratives, examining how interfaces, platforms, and design influence the ways stories are produced, distributed, and consumed today.
