Closing concert of the third edition of LABA Valencia’s MICME Interactive Art Festival and the conclusion of the MICME International Master’s Degree in Multimedia Creation for Live Shows.
The concert consisted of a conducted improvisation inspired by improvisational formats developed during the 2000s, bringing contemporary music and sound experimentation into dialogue with improvisation.
Venue: Centro Cultural Nave 3 at Parc Central, Valencia.
Closure concert
The third edition of MICME, the Interactive Art Festival at LABA Valencia, culminated with a closing concert at Centro Cultural Nave 3 in Parc Central, thanks to an invitation from its director, Miguel Ángel Jordán.
Ilgın Içözü presented a conducted improvisation with an ensemble featuring Theon Adam, Annabel Johnstone, Andrea Carrara, João Figueiras, Bianca Quigley and special guest Bilge Günay.
The light art compositions, projections and lighting were created by Diana Carmenate and Jana Tox, with the collaboration of students Arwa Fayed, Luis Ponce and Maryam De Vries.
The closing concert paid tribute to the conducted improvisation formats of the 2000s, bringing contemporary music together with experimental music.
The MICME Festival 2026 thus marked the conclusion of the MICME. International Master in Multimedia Creation for Live Shows, a program in which students from a wide range of disciplines and countries spent a year working with light, interactivity, video for the stage and music.
Throughout the academic year, the Master’s program also promoted a concert series in which faculty and students presented sound-based projects in dialogue with light art, video projections and lasers, reinforcing the role of sound art as a central element of the Master’s program.
