Documentary photography at laba valencia: first-year students develop their own visual voice

We would like to give special recognition to the first-year students of the BA (Hons) Photography & Video at LABA Valencia, and to their teacher, Isaac Fernández,

for the work they have carried out throughout the academic year in the Documentary Photography course.

The documentary photography projects created by the first-year students demonstrate a high level of technical quality, sensitivity and narrative ability. From Anna Ross, who spent the Christmas holidays back in her hometown of San Antonio, Texas, photographing the everyday life of a terminally ill patient as an invisible observer, to Lucas Shaw, who documents the decline of what was once one of Panama City’s main avenues, and Rafaela Rivas, who created a photo report on a shoe repair workshop in Valencia, all of the projects reflect a deep passion for the photographic gaze.
