We have welcomed the 23rd year with an unforgettable trip to Florence with the students of the degrees of Digital Design and Photography and Video, of the 1st promotion of LABA Valencia; a few days in which they enjoyed the journey and the classmates, the discovery of art and life of this wonderful place, and the training in our mother institution LABA Florence.
From 9 to 14 January, the students had the pleasure of touring the museums, streets, and buildings of one of the most emblematic cities in Europe. Florence is the birthplace of the Renaissance. Its historic center is a World Heritage Site, with the dome of Santa Maria del Fiore, the Ponte Vecchio, the Basilica of Santa Croce, the Palazzo Vecchio, and museums such as the Uffizi, the Bargello and the Galleria dell’Accademia, which houses Michelangelo’s David.
A week in which they visited the LABA Florence headquarters every day. Mauro Manetti and Carlo Nigi, its founders, together with its director Mimmo Cafasso and Max Lisi, Coordinator of the Photography Department, received us with all their affection and the illusion of returning the first of the visits, the one they made to us in 2021, at the opening of LABA Valencia, with the exhibition of 20 years of Photography, a selection of the best works of the students of Florence.
Max Lisi offered the students a daily workshop that allowed them to deepen their knowledge of analog photography and the film lab, and professor Damiano Verdiani, a workshop on Stil life photography.
Together with our LABA Valencia Advanced Photography Practice professor, Vincent Urbani, we organised an exchange of presentations of the photographic and videographic work of the students from Florence and Valencia.
A trip that has brought many beautiful promises made true for the students of LABA Valencia. We hope from both cities, from both countries, that it will be the beginning of many other such exchanges. Thank you all.
