Interview with Edu Comelles, professor at LABA Valencia
Meet the #LABAteam! Today we’d like to introduce you to Edu Comelles as a member of our teaching staff:
“I am a sound artist, musician and cultural manager from Barcelona, based in Valencia. For more than a decade I have dedicated myself to sound creation, the distribution and production of cultural content related to sound and musical experimentation. As a sound artist I have exhibited in spaces such as Laboral, Es Baluard, Bombas Gens or Caixaforum Barcelona. I have performed in Europe and South America at festivals such as Sónar or Mutek and in Valencia I have directed for years concert cycles and festivals such as Off_Herzios, Espai Sonor at the EACC in Castellón or the ENSEMS Festival ”.
“At LABA Valencia I’ll teach sound, a fundamental tool for audiovisual and multimedia creation and sometimes relegated to the background. The intention of this training is to increase its use as the main language for creation and integrate that practice into creative processes that include other artistic media or languages. Sound surrounds us, embraces us and is always present in the audiovisual, my work at LABA Valencia will be to make it visible, discover it and explore it in all its aspects.”
”I’m interested in Taylor Deupree‘s work:
Musician and editor with a very special eye and ear capable of creating unique musical spaces and at the same time surrounding them with a consistent, coherent and brilliant visual and aesthetic language; all this through his work as creator and editor of the 12k label, a benchmark of avant-garde electronic music.”
