Interview with Manuel Conde, professor at LABA Valencia

Meet the #LABAteam! We’d like to introduce you to Manuel Conde, professor of the Lighting and Video Scene modules in the International Master in Multimedia Creation for Performing Arts and Live Shows, which starts in January 2022.

Manuel Conde is co-director of Radiante, a team at the forefront of creation in the performing arts. Together with Francesc Ribes, they develop his work through light, videomapping, video scenes and interaction with the interpreters. With lighting and technology they create spaces, perform light art pieces and audiovisual shows.

In this module students will learn Affter Effects and Madmapper software. We will explore and work on the video scene and video mapping, increasingly integrated into the contemporary scene, as the art of using video and light projections on any surface, with effects that produce an immersive effect on the public. This study will be carried out in its two complementary aspects of video scene and videomapping. We will combine the study of context, with reference cases of the audiovisual in the performing arts with the practice of projection techniques.

In the Lighting Design module, the student will be given tools to create and control lighting from a visual language, through experimentation with the luminaire and the use of the MADMAPPER software. The basic and technical concepts of lighting and the references of scenic proposals will be studied; it will be experimented with non-conventional luminaires: video projectors, laser, Addressable LED, special effects, etc.
