Interview with Vincent Urbani, professor at LABA Valencia

Meet the LABAteam! Today we’d like to introduce you to Vincent Urbani, as a member of our teaching staff, professor of “Photographic practices”

Vincent Urbani is a fashion and advertising photographer specialized in portraits and video production.

Vincent Urbani’s work appears in numerous international publications, such as The New York Magazine, Interview Germany, Schön! UK, Vogue, Neo2, A Part Magazine Paris and DXI Magazine.

His portraits include artists such as Isabella Rossellini, Pedro Almodovar, Rossy De Palma, Cristiano Ronaldo, Zinedine Zidane, Ludovico Einaudi, and many others.

As an expert in advertising image, he has collaborated with brands such as Louis Vuitton, Levi’s, Crocs, Lladró, Zalando, Nespresso, Olay and Wella Italia.

Since 2019 he has been the editor-in-chief of the experimental Deca-logue Magazine.

This is a subject that starts by teaching the bases of photographic technique, to evolve in an excursus in which students will come into contact with the different fields of image creation. The students will learn the use of the tools and techniques of the photographer. Cameras, lenses, lighting sets, up to the use of the main types of software. It will be their opportunity to create a varied and coherent portfolio as well as to discover the photographic sector they identify most with.

For me it is key that students feel constantly stimulated to create and express their artistic desires, which can help them transform each idea into a professional photographic project.

I find the work of Nick Knight’s Showstudio very interesting, the proposals on the Nowness page and the images of Valentin Herfray, Sharna Osborne, Cho Gi Seok, Garethw McConnell and the Synchrodogs.
